Portugal 2013 Issue - Aga Khan award for Architecture

The stamp design shows the site of old Lisbon with Sao Jorge Castle. It is where the ceremony of the Aga Khan award for architecture was held.

The souvenir sheet is made of silk paper with intaglio printing technique.

Intaglio is the family of printing and printmaking techniques in which the image is incised into a surface and the incised line or sunken area holds the ink.

Today, intaglio engraving is used largely for banknotes, passports and occasionally high-value postage stamps.
